Time: Friday–Sunday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: The Auditorium Basement, Eureka Springs, AR

Learn the art of passive wood floor restoration in this hands-on, three-day Preservation Bootcamp series. Designed for homeowners, contractors, preservation enthusiasts, and anyone passionate about historic spaces, this workshop teaches you how to restore wood floors without aggressive sanding—preserving their original character and patina.

Under the leadership of Paul Sutherland, Eureka Springs Building Inspector with over 30 years of experience in building and restoration, and Trevor Halladay, a preservation specialist, all under the guidance of nationally renowned preservationist Bob Yapp, participants will gain valuable skills in traditional repair techniques.

Window Restoration October 18 + 19th

REGISTER

Have windows that seem dillapidated, and the thought of fixing them yourselves seem overwhelming and out of sight? Enjoy working with your hands, or even potentially a tradesman that wants to learn a new skill? Come celebrate classic craftsmanship and education, and learn some new skills along the way. We will be restoring some of the windows at the iconic Carnegie Library, and we would love your presence. Skills and education will include but not be limited to:

-Discussing types of windows and glazing

-Restoring wooden glazed windows

-Introduction to putty glazing

-Introduction to epoxy and wood repairs

This will be an intense, learn-by-doing opportunity. This class is not about aggressively drum sanding wood floors to make them look new. Much like fine antiques, we want to keep the flooring's character-defining features and patina.

You will learn how to patch bad areas so they don’t look patched, passively remove the damaged old finish, remove water and pet stains, and apply a finish. At the end of the three days, you will know, from beginning to end, how to repair & passively restore any tongue & grooved strip floor. At the completion of the class each student will receive a “Certificate of Completion”.

Homeowners, small contractors, preservation staff, preservation commission members, hp students, museum house maintenance staff and historic building owners will all benefit from this hands-on, traditional training event. All skill levels are encouraged to enroll. This is a hands-on workshop so you will be getting dirty. Bring work gloves, eye protection & knee pads.

Tuition for this three-day workshop includes morning fresh ground coffee & snacks as well as beverages and a lunch.
