About Civic Stars

Celebrating the People Who Make Eureka Springs Feel Like Home

Civic Stars is a community-powered recognition program that celebrates the everyday people who make Eureka Springs more welcoming, more caring, and more connected. These are the folks who show up.
Who lend a hand.
Who quietly make this place better — simply by being good neighbors.

How It Works

Nominations are open year-round.
Anyone can nominate someone making a positive impact in our community using our simple online form.

We host Civic Love in February and Civic Thanks in November. The Civic Stars are given out at our Civic Soup events.

Each nomination is reviewed to ensure the individual is part of the Eureka Springs community, and selected Civic Stars are invited to be honored.

How Civic Stars Are Celebrated

Civic Stars are honored at Civic Soup, In February and November (Thursdays, 6:00–7:30 PM). This is the heart of the program. Rather than a formal awards ceremony, Civic Stars are celebrated in a way that feels true to our community:

  • Their story is shared with neighbors

  • They are recognized in a warm, welcoming setting

  • They receive a small token of appreciation (a Civic Star pin)

  • The moment is rooted in connection, not performance

  • Civic Stars are also recognized through Main Street communications, including social media, email, and community postings.

What to Expect as a Nominee

If someone you know is nominated, we’ll gently encourage them to attend a Civic Soup gathering — often through someone they trust. There’s no pressure, no spotlight, and no formal speech required. Just a moment to be seen, appreciated, and celebrated by the community.

Why Civic Stars Exists

Civic Stars is intentionally:

  • Relational, not transactional

  • Community-centered, not performative

  • Rooted in gratitude, not recognition for recognition’s sake

This isn’t about plaques or titles. It’s about pausing, together, to say:
We see you. Thank you.
